This report and summary brief present key research findings from the Reducing Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFM) project, implemented by Breakthrough ACTION in Nepal from 2020 to 2024. Focused on strengthening the capacity of local governments in Madhesh Province, the project used a community-based, multi-sectoral approach to design and implement social and behavior change (SBC) interventions aimed at reducing CEFM. Based on extensive research across six municipalities, this brief outlines the project’s insights into barriers and drivers of CEFM, cultural norms, and effective strategies for fostering long-term behavior change within communities.
The resource is designed for SBC practitioners, government officials, researchers, and organizations interested in child protection and community-driven health initiatives.
