In collaboration with the Department of Health in the Philippines and with funding from USAID/Philippines, Breakthrough RESEARCH will study issues related to the under-utilization of clinical services for tuberculosis (TB) by underserved and infected populations. The study, led by ideas42, will produce insights into the role that stigma, discrimination, and marginalization play in affecting the choices that individuals make regarding TB care. The research team will examine the patient journey and identify behavioral drivers to understand how to best support patients in proactively seeking the care they need. The findings will support the work of USAID’s implementing partners in TB care to develop tools for social and behavior change interventions that would reduce patient delays and improve treatment outcomes.
