These national guidelines provide a coordinated framework for effective risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) in response to public health emergencies in Nigeria. Developed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention with technical and facilitation support from Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria, the guidelines address multi-hazard preparedness and response for infectious diseases, outbreaks, and natural disasters. Rooted in a One Health approach, the guidelines outline guiding principles, coordination structures, roles and responsibilities, and tools for developing strategic, evidence-based RCCE interventions. They aim to enhance trust, accountability, and community resilience through proactive communication, social listening, and behavioral science. Breakthrough ACTION contributed to the development process by leading consultative workshops, supporting content development and harmonization, and helping align the document with global RCCE standards.
