Breakthrough ACTION advances thought leadership in malaria social and behavior change, ranging from research activities to global partnerships.

The project recently led a data-driven process to strengthen the Malaria Behavior Survey (MBS) questionnaire for future use by countries and to disseminate the MBS platforms, results, and value-add with country and global partners. Breakthrough ACTION continues capacity strengthening efforts in monitoring and evaluation of malaria SBC with updated global guidance and an online course. The project has continued to collaborate on specific activities with key stakeholders at the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute technical teams in the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and the PMI Evolving Vector Control to Fight Malaria project. Finally, the project is making the case for quality, strategic, and evidence-based SBC among global audiences and decision makers through RBM mechanisms, including leadership of the SBC Working Group and the Country and Regional Support Partner Committee.

Focus On

Malaria Behavior Survey

The Malaria Behavior Survey is a cross-sectional household survey of malaria-related behaviors and the factors that drive or inhibit them. The survey uses a theory-driven and standardized methodology to produce data to inform malaria social and behavior change interventions.
