Virtual Leadership in Strategic Communication Workshop

June 6 - June 17

For the first time, the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs’ Leadership in Strategic Communication Workshop is going virtual.

From June 6 to 17, professionals working in social and behavior change around the world will have the opportunity to learn from the same distinguished faculty and staff who lead the in-person workshop but, this time, from the safety and comfort of a location of their choosing.

Previous workshops were delayed due to COVID and, while travel restrictions are easing, international travel may still not be possible for all. The virtual format will allow participation from anywhere with an internet connection. Classes will be held for four hours every day with separate group work.

Just as with the in-person event, participants will walk away with the ability to design and implement evidence-based tools and approaches and measure and evaluate program results. Innovations in project and crisis management and leadership will also be shared.

“We’ve adapted our flagship workshop to fit the virtual space while maintaining our core emphasis on learning by doing,” says Arzum Ciloglu, MPH, DrPH, CCP’s director of capacity strengthening. “The workshop will focus on the essential knowledge and skills needed for the development of strategic communication programs in the age of COVID-19, incorporating lessons learned about the role of leadership and the real-time, dynamic nature of our work.”

Ciloglu says the virtual program is for both US-based and international public health professionals who may be new to the field as well as mid-level or senior professionals who might want a refresher on the basics of designing social and behavior change interventions.

The deadline for applications is May 2. If you have additional questions, please contact Apral Smith at apralsmith@jhu.edu. The cost of the program is $2,500.
